GAMEPLAY RULES
Guys, the object is to
have fun here. I expect good sportsmanship to be displayed at all
times. If u quit a game, u are gone. That one is simple. This is a
great game so not many rules are needed, but I do expect the ones
listed below to be followed or else u will be gone. Here they are:
1. Mix up ur plays on offense. Yes, this is a direct result of the
bs on esso. If u expect to run wildcat or direct snaps to the
halfback all game long, u are in the wrong place. I only expect to
see wildcat or direct snap to halfback run one or two times a game,
and more than that and you are in the wrong league. If I get
repeated complaints about over use, u will quickly be among the
dearly departed. The playbooks give u alot to work with, let's use
them.
2. No manual movement on D before the snap. U can shift and spread
all u want, but no manual movement.
3. For most of the game or overtime, you may only go for 4th down
when u are at or within the 35 yardline of ur opponent. If u are
down by 21 points or more at any point in the game, u can go on 4th
down. And in the last 2 mins of the game, there are no 4th down
rules. Do as u please if u are winning or losing. The same rule
applies to overtime.
4. Fake punts and fgs. Let's keep it real. U may use 1 of either a
game.
5. Running clock. Do not run clock until there are less than 2
minute and 30 seconds in the game or overtime.
6. HIT STICK. This is not an arcade league. What that means is you
are not allowed to use the hit stick and strip tackles every play on
defense. Use it strategically. PFL leagues are strategy leagues; you
win with your GM talents, strategy and execution -- not because you
can hit stick and strip and cause repeated fumbles and injuries. If
I get repeated complaints about over use of the Hit Stick or Strip
Tackles, you will be removed.
7. There is a limit on "quick passes." These are passes made from
the hike-pass sequence in which the quarterback never even drops
back to pass. This is something that is not banned because you may
need it against an all out blitz, but it should not be done every
play or a majority of the plays. Your qb should be dropping back at
least a few steps and passing the majority of the time.
8. Running with the QB. You are not allowed to repeatedly hit the
sprint button or scramble button and then pass the ball. If you hit
the scramble or sprint button with your qb, you are expected to
continue pass the line of scrimmage and run with the ball or throw
the ball away. Once u hit scramble or run, the defense stop playing
pass defense and looks for the ball carrier; that is an A-1 flaw. On
occasion, when confronted with a strong pass rush, u may sprint out
of trouble and pass. As stated, you may run with the qb, but like
other plays do not over do it. Mix up your plays.
9. Hurry up offense. You are only allowed to use hurry-up offense in
the final 2 minutes of the half or the final 3 minutes of the game
or overtime. PERIOD. If you fall way behind in the game, that’s your
fault, take the loss like a man. You will not be allowed to turn the
game into a circus just because you fell way behind.
10. Manual control of wrs. You are allowed to click on and catch the
ball at the end of a pass pattern, but you are not allowed to run
manually with the wr during the pass route. The problem here is that
a manual wr is allowed to plow over dbs enroute to the ball and
offensive pass interference is rarely called. This is another A-1
flaw with the game. The rule prevents the so-called rocket catches
and other bs. So you are only allowed to click on at the very end of
a pass route.
11. You cannot call play action, then run the ball with the qb.
PERIOD. When u call play action, it activates an A-I response from
the defense. The A-I is abused if the QB then runs with the ball
after the PA. The initial response from the D is to quickly cover
the pass catchers after PA is called, so it is abuse when the qb
takes advantage of this and runs after PA.
12. You cannot roll out and run up to the line of scrimmage, wait
for a long period of time, letting the D come to you and then
passing the ball. In other words, once u commit to running the ball
with the qb, u have to run it. The reason why is twofold: A) a flaw
in the game, at times, allows the qb to actually run past the line
of scrimmage and still throw the ball with no penalty called. Also,
when u start running towards the line of scrimmage, the Defensive
A-I breaks down and the defense comes at the qb in mass. So to to
make this simple. U can roll out. But once u do, either throw the
ball or run the ball.
13. You are not allowed to manually drop a defensive lineman into
pass coverage. You can use zone rush schemes in the play books, but
u can not manually control the defensive lineman in pass coverage at
any time.
FREE AGENT RULES
You are allowed to sign 1 Free agent after you have played your game
each week.
DISCONNECT RULES
Unfortunately, disconnects sometimes happen during ps3 games because
of internet or network issues. Our policy for disconnects is that
regardless of the score, the game must be replayed. If the game
can't be replayed, it will be simmed. The only exception is if both
parties agree on yahoo (where there will be a message archive) that
the an owner may continue against the unmanned opponent. Obviously,
this policy is not perfect and relies heavily on the honesty of our
owners. That said, I will be watching disconnects closely and if I
detect a trend or suspect someone of disconnecting purposely, that
person will be booted.
SCHEDULING GAMES
We have scheduling forum for each league that can be used to help
schedule games. Also, you are encouraged to contact your opponent on
yahoo messenger for this purpose. There is a owners list with yahoo
contact information available on the website for each league.
SUBSTITUTIONS
All of the packages in the game are allowed, and all of the subs
available in the game are allowed except: wr cannot play TE,
defensive backs cannot play linebacker or wr, HB cannot play te or
wr UNLESS it is a package; wr cannot play defensive back. You are
also not allowed to put any of these in your depth chart.
